Hyundai Department Store Group’s fashion unit, Handsome Corp, has secured exclusive distribution rights for two US designer brands, Gabriela Hearst and Veronica Beard, and Swedish fashion brand Toteme.

The deals are part of Handsome’s strategy to further expand its overseas fashion portfolio.

Following the agreements, Handsome will open Gabriela Hearst’s first exclusive store in Asia at the main branch of the Hyundai Department Store in Apgujeong Seoul. Toteme’s stores will be rolled out at the same location and Trade Center branch in Samseong-dong in January and February, respectively. Meanwhile, Veronica Beard’s first store in South Korea will be opened at the Pangyo branch.

“Although all three brands have previously been available at domestic multi-brand stores, this is the first time that they have opened brand-exclusive locations,” said a spokesperson from Handsome Corp.

The fashion retailer said it aims to reach US$769 million in annual overseas sales within the next five years.

In August, Handsome Corp joined hands with French luxury fashion house Lanvin to launch a golf apparel brand in South Korea to capture bigger shares in the booming sector. Founded in 1987, the company manages 1389 stores and a portfolio of about 30 fashion and lifestyle brands, including Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Tom Greyhound, and Cashmere.
