As the luxury resale market continues to grow in South Korea, demand for a variety of accessories that come with luxury products is also increasing.

The boxes that are used to pack Rolex wristwatches or shopping bags from luxury brands like Hermes or Chanel are being sold at online secondhand markets.

The price of a Rolex box ranges from around US$200-240. Boxes for Omega watches are available for around $120, and boxes for IWC timepieces for around $56.

Chanel’s black shopping bags and Hermes’ orange shopping bags are available for around $8. The price differs with the size of the shopping bag.

“Shopping bags offered by luxury brands are given only when a customer buys a product, so they are relatively hard to come by,” a fashion industry official said.

People are buying the boxes and shopping bags rather than the luxury product itself in order to “show off” what they buy.

Some utilize the accessories when taking photos for social media or for decorating their homes.

Empty bottles of expensive champagne and wine, too, are in heavy demand at second-hand stores.

For instance, a wooden case for Dom Perignon, a champagne produced by LVMH that is sold for around $240 in the commercial market, sells for $8-20.

Cases for Armand de Brignac, another luxury champagne, sell for around $16, while Krug cases sell for around $8 each.
