World-first airport Oreo Cafe opens in Qatar

Oreo has launched its first coffee shop inside Qatar’s Hamad International Airport (HIA), as it aims to grow its presence internationally.

The Oreo Cafe is a collaboration between Mondelez World Travel Retail, Hamad International Airport, and Qatar Duty Free. This is the first Oreo Cafe outside the US and the first in an airport.

“This exceptional partnership has brought a world-first to the world’s leading airport, and we have truly delivered on our mission to bring exclusive experiences to travel retail,” said Jaya Singh, MD of Mondelez WTR, and Thabet Musleh, VP of Qatar Duty Free.

“With Mondelez WTR’s first foray into F&B leveraging a powerful global brand, we are confident that Oreo Cafe Doha will cement itself as a flagship outlet.”

The business occupies 116sqm in the new North Node. It provides travellers with a variety of sweet creations, including Oreo milkshakes, muffins, and cheesecakes. In addition, chefs produce sweets live at the cafe’s Oreo Creations Bar at the same time.

The cafe idea features the electric blue, white, and black colours of the Oreo brand, luring transiting passengers with Oreo furnishings, digital walls, and a retail space.

Earlier this year, Oreo launched a limited-edition pack of cookies inspired by the international K-pop (Korean pop) girl group, BlackPink.
