Luxury brand Harry Winston has launched its first retail location in Nanjing, adding to the brand’s portfolio in Mainland China.

Located inside the Deji Plaza, the 213sqm salon offers Harry Winston’s jewellery and timepiece collections, including the finest diamonds and rarest gemstones.

The contemporary ground-level room, which features a navy blue and gold exterior, will be accessible from inside the emporium and is designed to evoke the elegance and intimacy of a private estate.

The store interior features custom-designed lacquer, antique bronze furniture, and handcrafted crystal chandeliers, as well as the House’s black and white starburst motif.

“While this opening marks our first in Nanjing, it is our seventh location in mainland China,” said Nayla Hayek, CEO of Harry Winston.

“Nanjing is a chief city renowned for its role in research, education and tourism, and today, we are proud to deepen our roots in a city that is known for its rich history and culture, as we continue to bring the Harry Winston brand to new audiences throughout the country.”

The brand will exhibit a special work of art that combines the hallmark features of the house with the culture of Nanjing. An image depicts two gold-draped lion sculptures in front of the Winston gates, surrounded by plum blossoms, China’s major flower, and birds in flight, representing the city of Nanjing and Harry Winston’s union.

Birkin bag maker Hermes unveiled earlier this year the establishment of a new, larger store in China’s Nanjing city, reflecting the luxury industry’s confidence in a strong return of Chinese buyers following three years of Covid-19 restrictions.
