Freshippo, Alibaba Group’s digital intelligence-driven grocery retailing business, has opened 12 new outlets on the same day in eight cities across Mainland China, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.

Seven of the new Freshippo locations are using the latest store design, which will provide a greater selection of goods, a larger delivery area, a roomier browsing area, and improved customer service.

Five stores are under the Freshippo Outlets banner and located in Shanghai’s Songjiang, Pudong, and Minhang districts. They take the Freshippo Outlet network to 68 across 14 Mainland China cities.

According to Freshippo, China’s consumer market recovery is contributing to the increasing development of youthful clients, especially those from new first-tier cities. Domestic consumption is expected to climb dramatically as the real economy continues to merge with the digital economy, thanks to rising demand for online shopping.

The brand also says will continue to boost the development of the complete industrial chain, in addition to launching new stores. Freshippo has also announced strategic partnerships with 13 global retail groups – including Australia’s Coles – along with international brands, global associations, and consulting firms, as well as the establishment of eight purchasing centres around the world.
