Coupang reports record third-quarter sales

South Korean e-commerce conglomerate Coupang has reported US$6.2 billion in net revenue for the third quarter ended September 30, up 21 per cent year on year.

Gross profit surged 27 per cent to $1.6 billion, with adjusted EBITDA reaching $239 million.

“Our unrelenting focus on the customer experience and operational excellence drove record results again this quarter,” said Bom Kim, founder and CEO of Coupang. “Our revenue and active customers growth accelerated for the third consecutive quarter.”

Kim said the company has expanded Rocket Delivery and helped 12,000 small businesses in Taiwan export their products to a new market during the past year.

The company generated a record $991 million adjusted EBITDA over the past 12 months, while last month’s sales topped $5.8 billion

“We expect our consolidated margin to continue its march upwards on an annual basis,” said Coupang’s CFO, Gaurav Anand.

Coupang made its IPO debut on the New York Stock Exchange in 2021 to expand its global presence.
