US restaurant company The Cheesecake Factory has opened its first flagship location in Thailand – at Bangkok’s CentralWorld.

The eatery marks the brand’s first foray in Asia outside Greater China.

Hong Kong-based Maxim’s Caterers operates the venue under a licensing agreement with The Cheesecake Factory Inc.

The space covers 8000sqft, has over 250 indoor seats, and offers more than 200 dishes including Western, Korean, Indian and Thai.

The opening comes after the company’s pop-up store that ran for six days in Bangkok last month.

The Cheesecake Factory opened its first restaurant in Beverly Hills, California in 1978 and has since expanded to more than 200 locations worldwide.

In 2014, the company entered into a licensing agreement with Maxim’s Caterers which initially provided for the development of a minimum of 14 restaurants in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and China. The terms of the agreement were updated last year, adding Thailand and raising the expected number of restaurants in these markets to 18 by 2028.
