Starbucks launches coffee with pork flavour

Starbucks has launched a pork-flavoured drink, dubbed Lucky Savory Latte, to celebrate the Lunar New Year in China.

The coffee blends espresso with “Dongpo pork” sauce, and steamed milk is added to the beverage before it is drizzled with additional pork sauce.

Starbucks advertised the pork-infused drink as a coffee integrated with traditional New Year customs, which has since become a trending topic on social media in China.

According to local sources, the beverage is priced at $9.50 at Reserve stores. In addition to the pork-flavoured drink, Starbucks also launched a controversial drink with olive oil in some international markets last year, attempting to attract more customers.

Starbucks currently maintains more than 6500 locations in more than 250 cities across Mainland China, and the country has been one of Starbucks’ most important growth drivers, ranking as one of its top international markets.
