German shoe manufacturer Birkenstock has launched its first flagship store in India, as part of its plan to strengthen regional presence. 

Located in Mumbai, the store spans 1600sqft with a modern design blending traditional Indian heritage. 

The flagship location offers a full range of Birkenstock collections with classic styles, new materials and designer collaborations. 

“The opening marks a pivotal moment that underlines our continued commitment to the region and invites customers on an unforgettable brand journey,” the brand said in a statement. 

“Experience the world of Birkenstock and its mission to enable walking as nature intended, and see craftsmanship and quality made in Germany come to life!” 

The German retailer has been ramping its expansion in Asia, with the region’s first House of Birkenstock opening in Singapore last month.
