Hong Kong’s health and beauty retailer Bonjour Holdings reported a revenue decrease of 21.8 per cent to US$7.16 million (HK$55.7 million) for the first half of this year.
Profit for the period also dropped sharply to $12,870, down from $6.26 million the previous year.
Meanwhile, the company’s cash and bank balances were approximately $783,870, down from $2.07 million. Net current liabilities increased to $11.9 million from $6.81 million at the end of last year.
Bonjour said its performance reflects a “challenging” retail environment in Hong Kong, where total retail sales declined by 6.6 per cent in the first half versus the same period last year.
In order to adapt, the company said it is focused on enhancing its omnichannel presence, including developing the e-commerce platform HKMall, which is available in 34 countries and operates across 41 market platforms such as TMall Global, Koala, Facebook, and WeChat Mall.
Bonjour also established a dedicated outlet for key opinion leaders in social media to influence consumer purchasing. This strategy contributed to 10 per cent growth in live commerce versus the previous year.
Bonjour offers a portfolio of over 100,000 SKUs, including exclusive distribution agreements with brands like Suisse Reborn, Dr Bauer, Yumei, Wow Wow, Dr Schafter, and I.Skin Focus.
“By prioritising quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction, we seek to enhance customers’ lives through exceptional products tailored to their unique preferences,” said the company.
Despite a slow recovery in retail sales, Bonjour remains optimistic. It plans to expand its cross-border wholesale business and further its digital transformation efforts to improve profitability and shareholder value.
