Grab Philippines has appointed Ronald Roda as its new country head, replacing Grace Vera Cruz, who has moved into a regional role as head of regional corporate strategy.

Roda most recently served as COO of the Southeast Asian super-app rideshare and delivery services in the country and has been leading the GrabCar business for over six years.

Under his leadership, the company has expanded its presence from eight to more than 200 cities in the Philippines since 2018.

During the pandemic, Grab Philippines said Roda could swiftly adapt and sustain business operations. He also led the company in creating over 72,000 job opportunities in the first half of this year, bringing the total to more than 270,000 since last year.

Commenting on his recent appointment, Roda expressed his commitment to building solid relationships established under Cruz’s leadership.

“Together, we will further enhance the quality of life for our consumers and driver-partners and strengthen the pathways for success for our MSMEs and corporate partners, ensuring that Grab remains a vital contributor to the Philippines’ socio-economic development.”

Meanwhile, Cruz remains in the Philippines in her regional capacity to ensure a smooth transition and operational continuity.

Reflecting on her experience working with Grab, Cruz said she’s proud of her accomplishments, from driving innovation to improving services.

“As I transition to my new regional role, I am filled with confidence, optimism, and excitement for Grab Philippines and our new country head,” she concluded.
