Foodpanda is halting its operations in Thailand next month, marking the end of its food delivery and grocery service in the country after more than a decade.

The decision follows a broader restructuring by its Berlin-based parent company, Delivery Hero, which has been gradually winding down operations across several European and Asian markets.

The company says it will focus its efforts on countries with greater returns.

Thailand’s food delivery sector is expected to contract as post-pandemic consumer behaviour shifts, with more people dining out, reports an analyst from the Kasikorn Research Centre.

According to Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce, Delivery Hero has accumulated losses of US$396 million (THB$13.3 billion) in the market since 2019.

Delivery Hero’s regional team, which covers marketing and human resources for the Asia-Pacific, and is based in Thailand, will be business as usual.

“We regret that our journey (in Thailand) has eventually ended. We thank all partners, clients, riders, and merchants for being part of our success over the years,” said the company on its social media account.
