Better Life selects Oracle

China’s multi-format retailer Better Life has kicked off a new project with global IT company Oracle that will support its retail business.

Better Life says Oracle’s retail merchandising operations management, retail in-store operations and retail merchandise planning and optimisation will help Better Life create a consolidated view of products, inventory and prices and fulfil customer demand.

Better Life will also use others of Oracle’s retail IT systems, including hyperion planning, e-business suite, peoplesoft human capital management, JD Edwards enterpriseone, Siebel CRM and business itelligence enterprise edition to enhance core competencies in its retail business.

“Oracle will provide us with the capabilities to manage our operations more effectively,” said Noel Trinder, CEO of supermarket/hypermarket division of Better Life.

“By capturing relevant and accurate information and achieving a more holistic view of our business, we expect to drive improvements in performance, profitability and the customer experience, which will help us to manage our expanding operations and remain at the forefront of the competitive grocery market in China.”

Oracle Retail senior VP and GM Mike Webster said that through Oracle’s applications, Better Life will exceed consumer expectations, achieve its strategic business objectives and drive value from its investments.

Based in Hunan, Better Life currently operates 186 multi-format stores including hypermarkets, department stores and electronics stores.
