Filipino coffee chain eyes offshore

Filipino coffee chain Bo’s Coffee plans to take its brand internationally, says Steve Benitez, the CEO of Coffee Centrale, its operator.

Benitez said talks are ongoing with potential partners, who approached them to open in Dubai and Saudi Arabia. Besides the Middle East, Bo’s Coffee also plans to expand to Southeast Asian countries.

“If I had a choice, I would like to expand first to the Asean, like in Indonesia or Singapore,” said Benitez.

Meanwhile, its domestic expansion will see Bo’s Coffee opening 40 outlets in five years in addition to its 60 outlets operating currently.

“We’re targeting 10 new outlets a year, starting next year,” he said.

Established in 1996, Bo’s Coffee serves coffee beverages and breakfasts. It also retails coffee beans.

Bo’s Coffee sources its coffee beans from Bukidnon, Benguet and Cordillera. It said it will increase production to meet the demand. Only 30,000 tons of coffee were produced last year, far below from the annual coffee demand of 75,000 tons.
