Stella McCartney opens in Beijing

Continuing her expansion into China, designer Stella McCartney has opened her first directly operated free-standing boutique in Beijing.

The new 301 sqm store at the recently opened Parkview Green, the first Platinum LEED certified commercial development in China, exemplifies the designer’s commitment to sustainability.

The two storey store features a facade covered in Stella McCartney’s signature three dimensional rhombus tiles made of recyclable aluminium. The interiors use simple and natural materials contrasted with sculptural details, reflecting the designer’s style of sharpness and femininity.

The store features the current Stella McCartney store design concept, leading with an oak parquet floor in bespoke herringbone pattern in shades of pinks and natural hues guiding the customer throughout the store. Brass sculptural rails and fixtures finished in an array of textures display Stella’s ready-to-wear designs.

Handbags including the popular Falabella are merchandised on marble display tables across the center of the floor or on a customised white mesh wall.

For the kids collection the sculptural brass rail installations are reworked into vibrant primary pop colours with rubber shaped ball accents to express the “fun, modern and playful collection” which include “mini me” versions of styles from the women’s collections.

Completing the space, fitting rooms feature abstract perspex pendants in bright colours and various random shapes.

The Beijing store carries women’s ready-to-wear, accessories, lingerie and kids collections.

Stella McCartney is also available in China at the Reel Mall in Shanghai as well as in Lane Crawford, Joyce, IT, Rainbow, Spige and On Pedder.
