Indonesia expects e-commerce growth

With more and more Indonesians embracing online shopping, the e-commerce market in the country is expected to hit 5 trillion rupiah (US$478 million) this year.

It is predicted that online transactions in the country will increase to 19 million by the end of the year.

“The figures are only for goods transactions, we have not even airplane tickets or hotel reservations,” said e-commerce analyst Andi Boediman.

Indonesia’s e-commerce market stood at US$266 million last year.

Distribution service business in the country is also expected to grow along with e-commerce growth.
