French retailer Groupe Auchan is expanding into Vietnam.

The company’s supermarket division, ISMS, has partnered with CT Group to develop a supermarket business under S-Mart banner in Vietnam.

CT Group, whose chairman is Tran Kim Chung, is based in Ho Chi Minh City and specialises in commercial real estate.

The supermarket business will be headed by Jordi Fernandez, who was previously the company’s sales director in Spain and Tunisia.

Auchan will face competition from Giant, Metro, Lotte Mart, and others.
