Actor Alan Wan has opened an ice cream sandwich shop in Mongkok.
The store – called Stacks – is a joint venture with his family.
Wan got the idea for a sandwich store some time ago and spent months finding a suitable location. Despite his fame, landlords seemed reluctant to lease him space for the venture.
“Every time when I found the right location and finished all the paperwork, the owner changed their mind and didn’t want to rent out the store to me. I really feel that I was having bad luck,” he told guests and media invited to last weekend’s celebrity-studded grand opening event.
“There was another time where the owner said no to me even after I put in the deposit!”

The store will serve a range of ice cream sandwich treats with flavours taste-tested by celebrity girlfriend Jenny Ng.
Wan has already hinted Stacks may become a chain, with Ng promising to invest in a second store already.
The inaugural outlet is located at Paradise Square on Kwong Wa St, Mongkok, Kowloon.
