Causeway Bay Books manager missing

Hong Kong government officials are searching for the manager of Causeway Bay Books, renowned for selling books critical of China’s regime and banned in the Mainland, who has vanished in mysterious circumstances.
According to a report in the Ming Pao Daily Chinese language newspaper, the manager, whose surname is Lam, is one of four staff of publishing house Mighty Current who simply disappeared four weeks ago.
Mighty Current publishes books which criticise and purport to reveal secrets of Mainland politicians. It is owned by Gui Minhai, a Swedish national who was born in the Mainland. He was last heard from on October 14. The other three people have Hong Kong permanent residency.
Causeway Bay Books was founded in 1994 by Lam, who sold it to Mighty Current last year.
According to the newspaper report, Hong Kong police and immigration authorities have contacted their counterparts in the Mainland regarding the disappearances, but have yet to receive a formal response.
The bookstore continues to trade.
