Centrestage Hong Kong spotlights global fashion

Centrestage Hong Kong, a new promotional platform for fashion brands and collections, has opened at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).
Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the four-day international fashion event features about 200 fashion brands from 20 countries and regions. It also includes about 30 fashion shows.
Trend seminars, designer sharing sessions, industry seminars and networking events are also included.

With “Shooting Stars” as its theme, Centrestage has four zones: Glam, Allure, Metro and Forward, showcasing fashion brands from China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan and Thailand, as well as Australia, Europe and the US.
Industry associations are also taking part, such as the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association, the Taiwan Textile Federation and the Thailand Textile Institute.
The HKTDC has organised more than 30 overseas buying missions from 25 countries, representing more than 1000 companies including Galerie Lafayette from France, Shinsegae from Korea, Ships from Japan, and NY Studio and The Fashion Door (TFD) from China.
Representatives are also attending from Harvey Nichols, Lane Crawford and Zalora.
Featured in the opening gala fashion show, Centrestage Elites, were designers Ko Taeyong from Seoul, Mim Mak from Hong Kong, Pongsak Suprratccheep and Thita Kamonnetsawat from Bangkok and Simon Gao from Beijing, while the models included Zelia Zhong, Angie Ng, Kiki Kang and Zelia Zhong.
Another opening day highlight was Fashion Mirage, staged by The Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association. It featured 50 local designers including Barney Cheng, Harrison Wong, Lu Lu Cheung and Walter Ma.

Supermodel contest
A highlight will be the International Fashion Supermodel (IFSM) Competition Asia-Pacific regional final on Saturday, Guests will include designers Barney Cheng and Jimmy Choo, and models Christine Au Yang, Janet Ma, Kathy Chow and Qi Qi, and industry professionals Kim Robinson and Zing.

Centrestages fashion shows feature 45R, Anagram, Anteprima, Aquascutum, Arthur Lam, Atsuro Tayama, Charmante, Galtiscopio, Harrison Wong, Hidy NG, Initial, It, JNBY, Kenaxleung, Koyo, Loom Loop, Lu Lu Cheung, Marimekko and Moiselle.
Meanwhile, the Knitwear Innovation & Design Society is organising the Knitwear Symphony tomorrow to uncover local design talents.
For the show’s final day, the Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers’ Contest (YDC) will hold its final competition. Seventeen finalists will compete for the top three awards as well as the Best Footwear & Accessories Design Award. Japanese label Facetasm’s founder/designer Hiromichi Ochiai will be VIP judge.
Centrestage will be open to the public (free admission) on the final day, and more than 50 brands will offer discounted products.
