SMCP is to sell on JD, boosting Mainland China reach

SMCP is to sell on JD, boosting the Mainland China reach of its brands Sandro and Maje on the online platform.

This partnership marks an important milestone for SMCP’s online strategy in the Asia-Pacific region, the company said, lifting the group’s customer reach to another level in Mainland China.

With around 400 million users, JD is one of the largest online retailers in China, reaching 99 per cent of Mainland China’s population.

“We are pleased to announce this partnership with JD that further expands our reach in China, where online shopping is booming,” said Flavien d’Audiffret, SMCP’s digital & innovation director.

“This new step reflects SMCP’s ambition to capture all growth opportunities in a region where our brands desirability has been constantly growing over the past five years. The deal also illustrates SMCP’s digital journey towards achieving our medium-term digital penetration target.”

SMCP has three of its own websites, and collaborated with Tmall. The company has 137 stores in 23 cities in Mainland China, and 1466 points of sale in 40 other countries.
