Thailand’s Cafe Amazon launches in Vietnam

Thai coffee chain Cafe Amazon opened its first store in Ho Chi Minh City today, after a quiet debut in Vietnam last month.

The cafe is located in the city’s Phu Nhuan District, featuring a “Green Oasis” store concept. ‘Green walls’ are placed around the store, creating ideal spots for customers to take photos and ‘check in’ via social media.

Besides its usual coffee menu, Cafe Amazon Vietnam also adds local-favourite drinks, including iced black coffee and iced white coffee.

Vietnam’s first Cafe Amazon was launched at Central Retail’s BigC Go! Shopping centre in Ben Tre province. The launch is a result of the partnership between PTT Oil and Retail Business, a subsidiary of Thai energy giant PTT and Central Restaurant Group.

Since 2011, the Thai coffee chain has been progressively expanding its network in the Southeast Asia region. Cafe Amazon operates about 3000 outlets across 10 countries, including China, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore. It launched in the Philippines about this time last year.
