Muji parent Ryohin Keikaku has appointed Fast Retailing’s former executive, Nobuo Domae, as its new president and representative director.

Domae will succeed Satoru Matsuzaki, who will become vice chairman and director of Ryohin Keikaku. The new appointments will take effect on September 1.

“Under the new management structure, we will redefine the corporate philosophy and further enhance our operating foundations in order to achieve it,” the company said in a statement.

Joining Fast Retailing as director in 1998, Domae worked along with other key managers, Sawada and Tamastuka, and assisted Fast Retailing’s chief Tadahi Yanai. He left Uniqlo in 2007 and returned as chief strategy officer three months later. In 2016, Domae departed Uniqlo to take on new roles at DeNA and Monex Group as outside director.

Domae joined Muji as executive officer in 2019 and was appointed as senior managing director the following year.
