Kev Yiu, a fashion designer, has opened his first physical store in Hong Kong’s upmarket Central district, to showcase his haute couture fashion collection.

Yiu’s childhood recollection of spending time in his parents’ game arcade facility inspired his 2023 Spring/Summer collection. The collection includes vivid and vibrant colours, as well as psychedelic designs that are popular in video games.

The collection, which combines a variety of materials, embodies the neon lights and mood of the arcade centres in the 1980s, with hints of motifs seen in video game characters.

According to Yiu, bright colours and nostalgia are major parts of this collection, which include kaleidoscopic patterns, neon colours, and holographic heart and coin designs, all of which may be seen in video games.

Kev studied Fashion & Apparel in England and has over 15 years of high-end dress-making experience. In 2007, he returned to Hong Kong and established his first couture line, Sovereign Romance. In 2013, Sovereign Romance was rebranded Kev Yiu Couture.
