South Korea’s Ediya Coffee has appointed Jo Gyu-dong as its CEO, succeeding Kim Sang-soo, who took on the role last April.

Gyu-dong joined Ediya in 2018, where he led the chain’s franchise and research division before being appointed as head of distribution and supply chain management.

In his new role, Gyu-dong will work alongside chairman Chang Gi Moon as co-CEO.

Chang said that Ediya aims to “leap forward this year with change and innovation.” This strategy includes a brand revamp, investment in franchisee operations, and plans for expansion into international markets.

Last year, the coffee chain marked its international expansion by opening its first outlet in Malaysia. With over 4000 outlets, Ediya is one of the largest coffee chains in South Korea.
