Tara Jewels trims stores

Indian jeweller Tara Jewels is re-strategising its domestic retail business.

Local reports say it is relocating or closing three stores in Mumbai, two in Delhi and one each at Ahmedabad, Aurangabad, Bhopal, Nashik and Surat that were opened in the company’s phase one launch and have been operational for two full years.

It says it will increase its focus on the higher margin diamond and studded jewellery business instead.

Tara Jewels was incorporated in 2001 and entered the jewellery retail space in India in 2008 and opened 50 company operated retail stores across 37 Indian cities.
