Californian fashion brand Juicy Couture is to open its first Indian store in 2015.

Parent Authentic Brands Group has signed a franchise agreement with India’s Reliance Brands to open 20 Juicy Couture stores across the country over the next five years.

Authentic Brands Group CEO Jamie Salter said the two partners saw an emerging market economy in India while touring the country and now is the right time to tap the market.

“We feel that the market is wide open and the middle class continues to grow and having for an affordable luxury brand like Juicy the upside arrow is pointed straight up,” he told ETRetail.com in a phone interview.

Juicy Couture has approximately 200 stores in around 60 countries throughout North America, Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East.
