Prestige Group uses UK design expertise for mall

For its new Forum Mall in Mysuru, southwest India, developer Prestige Group appointed UK consultancy Broadway Malyan’s Mumbai office to design the facade and interior fit-out.

Covering 54,000sqm, the mall offers more than 150 local and international brands, including Apple, H&M and Levi’s. It is anchored by a hypermarket and department stores, and also offers a cinema multiplex, gaming arcade, and restaurants and cafes.

Inspiration for the interior design was drawn from local culture and celebrations as well as landmarks such as Mysore Palace, and textures and materials from sarees to stonework.

“Our challenge was to combine cultural elements with a contemporary, clean architectural style,” says Broadway Malyan associate director, Mumbai-based Ankit Kamboj. “By designing both the facade and interiors we have been able to ensure the same design approach is followed throughout to create a strong identity for the mall.”
