Hong Kong’s Honolulu Cafe has opened its first branch in Manila.
Renowned for its signature egg tarts with 192 flakey pastry layers (no, we are not sure who counted them!), the cafe also serves its own house-blend of coffee.
The new store will open tomorrow, January 5, at the SM Aura shopping centre.
Honolulu Cafe dates back to 1940 when it opened as an ice cream parlour. Nearly 80 years on, the company now has stores in Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan as well.
Besides egg tarts and coffee, the cafes serve Hong Kong-style stocking-strained milk tea, pastries, buns, Cantonese-style roast meat, and fried noodles.
The new outlet is on the ground floor of the Bonifacio Global City shopping centre.
