Vietnamese supermarket chain VinMart is to change its name to WinMart, a year after Masan Group acquired the chain from Vingroup.
Similarly, the convenience chain VinMart+ will become WinMart+. Despite the change in name, the company said the colour and logo design style will remain unchanged. The chain is now managed by The CrownX, a subsidiary of Masan Group.
CEO of The CrownX, Truong Cong Thang, said the rebranding will start after the restructuring process of VinMart and VinMart+ is completed.
According to Danny Le, CEO of Masan Group, the company aims to increase the VinMart and VinMart+ network to 30,000 stores within four years. The company now has 2300 stores across the country.
Last year, The CrownX recorded revenue of US$1.5 billion, an increase of 14 per cent year on year. Convenience chain VinMart+’s revenue surged 42 per cent despite the downsizing of its store network as Masan reviewed sites and closed unprofitable stores in preparation for a more planned expansion.
