Japanese cosmetic brand Shiseido will open its first store in India’s Mumbai on October 18 at Inorbit Mall Malad, in collaboration with local distributor Baccarose Perfumes & Beauty Products Pvt Ltd.

Shiseido made its initial foray into the Indian market in 2001 and bolstered its expansion by adding Nars Cosmetics to the market earlier this year, a move that intends to meet the broad beauty needs of Indian consumers.

The brand has also named Tamannaah Bhatia as the Shiseido Skincare line’s first brand ambassador in India.

“Her charisma, talent, and timeless beauty resonate with our brand’s core values, making her the perfect choice to represent Shiseido in India,” said Nicolas Baudonnet, VP of the fragrance and cosmetics division, Shiseido Asia Pacific.

“We look forward to working closely with Tamannaah and believe that her association with our brand will help us connect with our consumers on a deeper level.”

Shiseido’s products are currently available at 62 retail outlets in India, and the brand plans to raise this number to 75 by the end of the year. Its products can also be found at online retailers such as Parcos, Nykaa, Shoppers Stop, and Sephora.
