Chinese jeweller Qeelin has opened its first store in Japan as part of its international expansion strategy.

The store, located in Tokyo’s Ginza, has five floors and is based on the Treasure Box theme. According to the firm, the new Qeelin flagship store honours cultural references and 20 years of design.

Qeelin was founded in 2004 and is named after an auspicious Chinese mythical animal and love symbol. In 2012, giant retailer Kering acquired the brand in an undisclosed deal as part of its expansion strategy in China.

The brand, which offers fine contemporary jewellery designs inspired by Chinese tradition, currently has stores across many markets including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Europe and North America.

Qeelin’s previous presence in Japan was through the multi-brand store Restir.
