South Korean bakery chain Tous les Jours will re-enter Malaysia with five stores following its hiatus since 2017.

Tous les Jours’ parent company, CJ Foodville, has signed a master franchise deal with local distributor Stream Empire Holdings. The first store is expected to open at Sunway Pyramid Mall in the second quarter of this year, and a second at Sunway Velocity Mall.

“The third one is almost secured, and we are sourcing locations for the fourth and fifth, which are still under negotiation,” said SEH Food GM Ho Soo Ling.

Tous les Jours opened its first Malaysian store on June 23, 2013, in Kuala Lumpur. The South Korean chain abruptly announced the closing of its four Malaysian locations on May 25, 2017.

Tous les Jours operates 450 locations in seven countries, including the US, Canada, Indonesia and Vietnam. The Malaysian opening is part of the brand’s Southeast Asian expansion strategy.

The bakery chain also made its Singapore debut last year, opening four outlets.
