US fashion label Guess will close all its stores in Mainland China by the end of this month, following the footsteps of many foreign brands in recent years.
According to the South China Morning Post, the brand has informed customers via text messages that it would close all its stores in the market, both online and offline.
All Guess products from online flagship stores on e-commerce platform Tmall were also removed from sale.
The business said in a statement that it plans to reposition itself in the Chinese market under a new model, but did not provide further details.
Guess entered Mainland China in 2007 with its first store in Shanghai. The brand peaked at around 250 stores in the market in 2019.
The closures follow the exit of several foreign brands in recent years, including Old Navy, Topshop, Bershka, Pull&Bear, Stradivarius and Oysho.
