Liam Gallagher’s Pretty Green brand rescued

Pop star Liam Gallagher’s Pretty Green brand has been bought out of administration by JD Sports.

While not disclosing details of the deal, JD Sports has picked up the fashion label’s online, retail and wholesale business as well as its Manchester flagship, saving the jobs of 67 staff. The store’s remaining outlets and concessions have been shuttered immediately, however, affecting 97 workers.

“We are pleased to have secured the sale of the Pretty Green brand,” said joint administrator and Moorfields Advisory partner Simon Thomas. “We have worked hard over the last few weeks in challenging circumstances to secure the best outcome for the business, its creditors and its employees.”

According to Thomas, there was considerable interest in the brand while bidding was underway.

“We are confident that JD Sports is the right fit for the business and will help to grow its online and wholesale channels,” he said.

JD Sports executive chairman Peter Cowgill expressed enthusiasm towards working with the Pretty Green brand team on future positive developments.
