Department store chain Harvey Nichols has appointed Julia Goddard – currently president of Alexander McQueen EMEA – as its new CEO, following the departure of Manju Malhotra at the end of last year.

Goddard will start her new role at Harvey Nichols at the beginning of June after 14 years at Alexander McQueen. She will join the management board of Harvey Nichols and report to Sir Dickson Poon and his son Pearson Poon, chairman and vice chairman of Harvey Nichols.

“Julia is a dynamic business leader with a strong track record of delivering quality growth and successfully developing and executing a VIC clienteling strategy,” said the Poons “Her expertise and strategic capabilities will be invaluable in delivering long-term sustainable growth for Harvey Nichols.”

Since 2019, Goddard has led Alexander McQueen’s business development in the EMEA region, including new flagships in key cities such as London, Paris, Milan, Rome, Dubai, Kuwait, and Qatar. Prior to that she was worldwide wholesale, franchise and e-concession director for the brand.

The British department store chain shut its store in Hong Kong’s Landmark at Central earlier this year.
