WHP Global and G-III Apparel Group have partnered with Hong Kong-based retailer IT Group to accelerate Marc Jacobs’ growth across Greater China.

Under the agreement, IT Group has acquired Marc Jacobs’ existing Greater China operating business and secured a long-term licensing arrangement. The partnership aims to develop the brand through standalone stores, shop-in-shop locations, e-commerce and wholesale distribution.

“Marc Jacobs has a distinctive creative identity and strong appeal among consumers in Greater China,” said Sham Kar Wai, founder and chairman of IT Group.

“With our omnichannel platform, deep local market knowledge and nearly four decades of experience building international fashion brands in the region, we see significant potential to accelerate the brand’s growth through retail expansion and digital commerce, bringing Marc Jacobs to more consumers across Greater China.”

Founded in Hong Kong in 1988, IT Group operates more than 280 points of sale across Greater China. Its portfolio includes international fashion brands such as Acne Studios, A Bathing Ape, Comme des Garçons and Off-White.

The partnership follows WHP Global and G-III Apparel Group’s acquisition of Marc Jacobs from LVMH last month. The two companies each hold a 50 per cent stake in the newly established joint venture, which aims to drive the brand’s next phase of international growth.
